Timing belt 550 M

Description

A timing belt is a toothed belt that transmits motion without slipping, keeping the motor and the driven pulley exactly in step. In laser and CNC machines such belts drive axes or link a motor to a screw or gearbox, so their condition affects accuracy. This belt carries the code 550 M.

Inspect it for cracked or missing teeth, frayed edges, a glazed surface, or stretching that leaves it slack after adjustment. A loose belt causes skipped steps and shifted engraving, while an overtightened one overloads the bearings. After fitting a new belt, align the pulleys, set the tension, and run a test design to confirm the dimensions.

The code printed on the back of the belt is the best reference, so compare it with 550 M and also check the width and tooth profile, because belts of the same length can have different teeth. If the marking is gone, bring the old belt to the Shubra spare-parts outlet or send a photo of it to a Top Laser branch.
