Description
The HSD spindle is the cutting motor of a CNC router: it holds the tool and spins it at high speed to machine wood, MDF, acrylic, plastics and soft metals. This unit is rated at 6 HP, equivalent to 4.5 kW, a power class suited to production routers that run long jobs and take deep passes.
Most spindle trouble starts at the bearings and the tool interface. Listen for a growing whine or rumble, feel for vibration at the tool tip, and watch for unusual heat. Keep the collet, nut and taper clean, never run without a properly seated tool, and warm the spindle up at moderate speed after idle periods, especially in cold workshops.
Before replacing it, read the nameplate on your current spindle: rated voltage, frequency, maximum speed, cooling method and tool-holder type all have to match your inverter and machine head.
