Signal Lamp

Description

A signal lamp is the indicator light on a machine's control panel or electrical cabinet that shows its status at a glance, for instance whether power is on, the machine is running, or a fault or alarm has occurred. On CNC, laser and plasma machines it gives the operator instant visual feedback without checking the controller screen.

If the lamp stays dark while the machine has power, flickers, or its lens is cracked or faded, first check the terminals behind the panel for looseness. Many signal lamps have a built-in LED that cannot be replaced separately, so the whole unit is changed. Disconnect power before working behind the panel.

Signal lamps differ in operating voltage, AC or DC supply, mounting hole diameter and colour, and the colour usually carries a specific meaning on the panel.
