Description

This 80 W power supply is the high-voltage type typically used to drive CO2 laser tubes of the same power class. It raises the mains voltage to the level needed to start and sustain the discharge inside the tube, and sets the tube current according to signals from the laser controller.

It produces dangerous high voltage, so work on it only with the mains disconnected and after stored charge has had time to dissipate. A failing unit may stop firing the tube despite correct control signals, give weak or fluctuating output, crackle, smell of burning, or trip its protection repeatedly. Check the tube, water flow and water-protection switch wiring first, as their faults can look alike.

Match the supply to your tube's rated power and check its control terminals, as the laser controller sends firing and power signals through specific connections.
