Description

The Leadshine 3DM580 is a digital driver for three-phase stepper motors, used to run the axes of CNC routers and laser machines. It turns the step and direction pulses from the motion controller into the phase currents that drive the motor, with settings for output current and microstepping.

Typical signs of a driver fault are a motor that hums but does not turn, an axis that stalls or loses steps while the mechanics move freely, an alarm indicator on the driver, or excessive heat in normal work. Rule out loose motor wiring and the power supply first, then swap it with a matching driver on another axis to see whether the fault follows it. When installing a replacement, copy the old unit's DIP switch settings exactly and leave space for airflow around the heatsink.
