Description

This gas-filled support rod is the strut that helps lift a machine's top cover and hold it open. On laser machines with a hinged lid, it takes much of the lid's weight as it opens and keeps it raised safely while the operator loads material, positions the work or cleans the bed.

Over time the seals inside lose pressure. Typical signs are a lid that drifts down on its own, needs more effort to lift, or drops suddenly, and sometimes an oily film on the rod. A weak strut endangers the operator's hands; if your lid uses two, replace both together, and keep the polished rod free of scratches and paint.

To get the right strut, measure its length fully extended and fully compressed, note the end-fitting type, and copy any force value printed on the cylinder body.
