Contactor switch
Description
A contactor is an electrically operated switch that lets a low-power control signal turn heavy loads on and off. In CNC and laser machines it typically switches the main power, the spindle or inverter supply, vacuum pumps, dust extractors and chillers, so the control circuit never has to carry their full current.
Buzzing or chattering when energised, contacts that will not pull in or release, scorched or pitted contact faces, a melted housing or a load that only works intermittently are all reasons to replace a contactor. Before fitting a new one, isolate the power, confirm the coil receives its rated voltage, and tighten every terminal firmly, because loose connections overheat.
Since this listing covers a general-purpose contactor, read the coil voltage, the rated current or power, and the number of main and auxiliary contacts from the label on the old unit. Sending a clear photo of that label to Top Laser is the quickest way to get a matching contactor.
