Description

The shield is the outermost front consumable on a Hypertherm plasma torch. It fits over the nozzle, protecting it from molten metal that splashes back, especially when piercing, and it directs the shield air around the arc. This listing covers versions for 45A, 65A, 85A, 105A and 125A.

Check the shield at every consumable change. Spatter building up on its face, a deformed or burnt orifice, or blocked side vent holes all degrade cut quality and can lead to double arcing that ruins the nozzle. Clean off light spatter, but replace a shield that has lost its shape. Fit it hand-tight with the system switched off and make sure the retaining cap is fully seated.
