Switch

Description

A disconnect switch isolates the machine, or one of its circuits, from the power supply. On laser, CNC router and plasma machines it usually sits on the control cabinet or front panel, and it lets the operator cut power completely before maintenance or part changes instead of relying on a standby button.

Replace the switch if it feels loose or stiff, if the machine loses power when the handle is touched, if the terminals show signs of heat, or if it fails to break every pole when turned off. Always isolate the incoming supply before working on the switch itself, and tighten the cable lugs firmly so a poor contact cannot overheat.

Switches differ in current rating, number of poles, mounting style and handle type, and the name alone does not settle these points. Send a photo of the old switch showing the label printed on its body, together with your machine type, and Top Laser will look for an equivalent that fits the same position.
