Automatic Master Switch (overload)

Description

The automatic master switch is the main circuit breaker of the machine. It feeds the entire control cabinet and trips by itself on an overload or short circuit, protecting wiring, drives and other components on laser, CNC router and plasma machines, while also serving as the main on and off point.

Frequent tripping is a warning rather than a nuisance: find the cause, such as a failing motor, a shorted cable or too many loads on one line, before resetting it again. A breaker that will not stay on with no load, trips at low current, or runs hot should be replaced. Never fit a higher rating to stop the tripping.

The replacement needs the same current rating and number of poles, a trip curve suited to the loads it protects, and the same rail or mounting arrangement. These values are printed on the front of the breaker, so a clear photo of the old one is enough for the Top Laser team to recommend the right model.
