Gantry cover

Description

The gantry accordion cover is a folding bellows that shields the linear rails, ball screws or racks of a machine from dust, chips and debris. On CNC routers and laser cutting machines it expands and compresses with the gantry's travel, keeping fine particles away from precision motion parts that would otherwise wear faster.

Replace the cover when its folds are torn, burnt through by sparks, stiff, or sagging onto the parts beneath, because a damaged bellows lets debris straight onto the rails. Clean off chips regularly with a brush or vacuum rather than compressed air, which can push dust into the folds, and make sure both ends stay firmly attached as the gantry moves.
