P80 Nozzle Plasma Copper

Description

The P80 copper nozzle is a core consumable for the widely used P80 torch found on many air plasma cutters. It sits around the electrode, and its small orifice constricts the plasma into a narrow, focused arc, which determines the kerf width and the quality of the cut edge.

With use, the orifice gradually widens or loses its round shape. The arc then wanders, the kerf grows wider, edges come out bevelled, more dross forms on the underside, and arc starting can become unreliable. Common practice is to change the nozzle and electrode together, feed the torch with clean, dry air, set the current to suit the nozzle orifice, and keep the torch tip from touching the plate.
