HyberTherm plasma nozzle

Description

This Hypertherm plasma nozzle is a torch consumable that constricts the plasma arc as it leaves the torch. Its small copper orifice focuses the arc into a narrow, high-energy jet, so the condition of the nozzle directly controls kerf width, edge squareness and the amount of dross left on the cut.

Inspect the nozzle regularly: an orifice that has become oval, gouged or blackened, or a cut that suddenly turns beveled and slaggy, means it is due for replacement. Double arcing, often caused by touching the plate or piercing too low, ruins nozzles quickly. Replace it together with the electrode when practical, and seat the swirl ring and retaining cap correctly so gas flow stays centred.

Hypertherm nozzles are designed for specific torches and current levels, and the part number is usually stamped on the nozzle itself.
