Description

A 24V DC power supply converts mains AC into a steady low-voltage output for the control side of a machine. At 2A it delivers up to about 48 watts, which suits light loads such as sensors, limit switches, relays, small fans or some controller boards, not motors and drives.

A weak or failing supply often causes faults that seem unrelated: a controller that resets at random, sensors that trigger falsely, or relays that chatter. Measure the output with a multimeter while the machine is running; it should stay close to 24V. Mount the unit where air can circulate, tighten its terminals, and route its wiring away from high-voltage and motor cables.

Choosing a replacement starts with adding up the current drawn by everything connected to it. If the total is near or above 2A, a higher-current model is the safer choice.
